Yosemite Big Meadow Fire Timeline

I got this from the dispatch radio transcripts, very scary that they thought a home burnt down.

During the summer of 2010 I finally found found out how many fire engines were at the housesthat first night. They had only 1 engine for structure protection that night! I asked the person why and he said they were out fighting the fire, my comment was that should have had hundreds of trucks at the houses as THEY started the fire.

Yosemite Big Meadow Fire Timeline 8/26/09

8/26/09

• 10:14 Commencing Test Burn
• 11:49 Multiple spot on north side of burn
• 11:53 Ordered Helicopter with bucket
• 11:45 1 to 2 acres on north part of brush and timber, cutting line, no other resources needed
• 12:08 ordering more resources
• 12:15 be prepared to close crane flat road
• 12:31 rate of spread is 10/15 chains/hr, waiting to hear from 100 on use of bulldozer
• 12:44 fire is within ½ mile of crane flat road
• 12:44 close road
• 12:50 fires is 15 acres
• 2:32 per chief 500, go ahead and use dozer
• 3:31 spots on other side of road now
• 11:58 evacuate foresta

8/27/09

• 2:08 fire is well established south side of foresta and east of campground road
• 2:23 per div 3 just lost first house
• 2:31 evacuating west foresta
• 2:33 3 along le conte immediate threat and 3 more will be a threat soon, 6 or so on dana way that are a few hours out
• 2:33 3 are being impacted now
• 2:34 2 on campground road that are impacting road and one on le conte that is probable loss
• 2:34 1305 le conte
• 2:35 unknown address on campground road
• 2:35 at least a dozen homes in direct or immediate threat
• 2:37 making notifications of structure loss to supt
• 2:39 shakelton advised of structure loss
• 3:05 column with active flame
• 8:40 flying spur may be a issue
• 9:28 crane flat campground closed

• 0:43 tamarack campground was evacuated2
• 0:39 Old el portal and yosemite view are evacuated
