Badger Pass has over 4' of snow, opens 12/18

Yes  the Badger Pass Ski Area in Yosemite has over 4' of snow but will not open until 12/18.

Even sadder is that NPS will not open the road to Badger for us back-country skiers even though it is plowed. In the 70's I remember they would have the road plowed all the way to Briadlveil Meadow and there would be cars parked all along the road from Summit Meadow to Bridalveil, packed with skiers. Then they only plowed to Summit and when Yosemite Nordic Ski School moved up they pulled the plowing back to Badger so the cross country skiers could leave from the center.

Up until the 90's the road was always open to Badger even when the resort was closed so folks could enjoy the snow. Now it is only open when Badger is open. 12/18 to 3/31.

Wouldnt it be nice if NPS

Wouldnt it be nice if NPS opened the road to Badger so we could go skiing!!! I heard the road is already plowed, why not open it?

Such a shame, but such is the

Such a shame, but such is the way of the corporate world. Give me a good family run ski operation anytime. they will open just to keep people employed and keep food on the table. A corporation will cut back to maximize profit, so their executives can keep good wine on the table, on their yacht.
