Construction on the Glacier Point Road Rehabilitation project has begun. Delays of 30 minutes as multiple crews begin drainage repairs. Every effort will be made to schedule the released traffic on the hour and 1/2 hour interval. The project includes repairing the existing drainage's and repaving 5.5 miles of the Glacier Point Road between Chinquapin Intersection and Badger Pass Parking Lot.
If the speed and efficiency demonstrated on previous projects are any indication I would expect VERY long delays and then long slow lines of cars. It is possible that up to a hundred or more cars could be held and when released the traffic will move very slow in all directions. Plan for lots of time to visit this area.

The Tioga Road\, bounded on both sides by State Highway 120\, is the popular east-west crossing of the Sierra Nevada. There will be no commercial services available along the road until further notice.
However\, there will be gasoline available 24 hours per day (credit cards only). Additionally\, the Tuolumne Meadows Campground\, other campgrounds along the corridor\, and the Tuolumne Visitor Center will not be open. There will be pit toilets available along the Tioga Road. All visitor services\, including the campgrounds\, store\, gas station\, etc. will open over the next several weeks.

\;The Tuolumne Meadows Store and world famous grill are now open 8 to 5.
These are located in Tuolumne Meadows on Hwy 120 about 54 miles from Yosemite Valley. The elevation is at 8\,500' and is the place to be when the weather gets hot. There is great swimming and hiking in the area. The Grill has great Hamburgers and Chili.

A unique art exhibit is opening on June 20\, 2009 at the Yosemite Museum
Gallery. The exhibit features work from seven professional artists\, all
part of the Artists-in-Residence program. The program\, established over 20
years ago\, is coordinated by Yosemite Renaissance. Professional artists are
invited to live in Yosemite for one entire month which allows them to
immerse themselves in the park\, visiting the spectacular expanse that is
Yosemite and capturing the hidden gems behind the traditional icons.
Art includes paintings\, prints\, drawings\, fabric art and sculptures by John
Barnett\, Jane Culp\, Tom Killion\, Bruce Klein\, Hearne Pardee\, Bonnie
Peterson and Gina Werfel.
This diverse exhibit continues through November 8. If you are visiting
Yosemite we encourage you to stop by the Yosemite Museum Gallery to see
these national artists’ interpretations of the beauty that is Yosemite.

The National Park Service is waiving the entrance fees for all national parks on a designated weekend every month\, beginning this month.
Free entry is being granted to all 391 national parks across the country on the weekend of June 20-21\, July 18-19\, and August 15-16.
Officials said it's a plan to help American families struggling with the recession afford a memorable vacation.
