Tuolumne Meadows 9/28/12

This opens with a nice little afternoon thunderstorm in Tuolumne Meadows this late fall on 9/28/12. With all services closed there are few cars and people around allowing one to really enjoy the silence of Yosemite. The 2nd clip is audio of how far ones yell carries when there is no other noise from cars and especially those loud obnoxious Harley Davdison's!

Yosemite 30 second video, The Merced River, Yosemite. The spring runoff from the warm days. 4/22/12

We have had near records temperatures in Yosemite, in the 80's, and this has really accelerated the snow melt causing the rivers to become swollen and fast. The water is muddy with silt and debris.

More near record temps are forecast for today so look for the water to get even bigger.
Don't be surprised if this is the peak of the runoff as the side streams feeding the Merced have really dropped off and this is a good indicator that the runoff is waning.

Cathedral Lake, Yosemite, Ice singing 12/21/11

I filmed this at Cathedral Lake on 12/21/11. If anyone visited the frozen lakes in Yosemite's High Country during the once in a life time event of the Tioga Pass road being open in December they heard these unusual sounds. There was a pressure ridge on the lake that was raised several inches and cracked open and i stuck the mic inside to pick up these sounds.

Make sure you have the sound turned up!
