  10. Dewey Point ski trip 1/26/09

    The 1st view is at Inspiration Point in Yosemite on the way up to Badger Pass. We then cross country ski out to Dewey Point, a 8 mile round trip from Badger Pass ski area in Yosemite. Dewey Point is this amazing rib that just out over Yosemite Valley and overs views of El Capitan, Yosemite Valley, Half Dome and the High Sierra. The mountains are blanketed in fresh snow.

  12. Dewey Point, Yosemite 1/26/09

    Yosemite got several inches of new snow overnight and today dawned clear and cold. We headed out to Dewey Point today, a 8 mile round trip cross country ski to a rib that juts out over Yosemite Valley.

    There has been lots of rain the past 2 days in Yosemite. A welcome relief after the near record dry January we were experiencing.

  19. Rain finally hits Yosemite

    After almost 20 days of dry hot weather and a near record dry January we are finally getting some good rain. The snow level is quite high, above 7,000' which means that it is raining at the Badger Pass Ski area. Hopefully the snow level will drop.

    There are no chain controls on the open roads.

  29. More warm clear days for Yosemite.

     It has been very warm in Yosemite Valley with temperatures in the 60's and 70's. Surprisingly the snow is still hanging in there on the shady side of Yosemite Valley.

    Meanwhile yes the Badger Pass Ski area is open and there is plenty of snow and the skiing is great.

  30. Near record temperatures hit Yosemite

    The last several days have seen near record temperatures. If you are on the north side of Yosemite Valley it will feel like 70 degrees or more. Meanwhile on the south side in the shade it will be below freezing.

    There is still snow in Yosemite Valley and the Badger Pass Ski Area has plenty and the skiing is great.
